About the therapist…..

Kim Bode received her training in the ever beautiful and spiritual Hawaii. She received her massage license in 1989.

Kim’s area of expertise is in the Lomilomi Olueà (the lowering of the mountains) therapeutic massage. Many of Kim’s clients have been referred to her by physicians or chiropractors to help the client heal after experiencing work injuries or automobile accidents.

Kim lived in Hawaii for thirteen years before moving back to her home state of Wisconsin. Kim looks forward to meeting new people and being of service to all.

What does Reiki mean?

The word Reiki means “ Universal Life Energy”. It is a healing energy which is available all around us. The energy is found in all living matter and is for growth and healing. Reiki affects healing on all levels. The physical, emotional, mental and the spiritual. Reiki treatment helps the body’s natural ability to heal itself by lessening the blockages and restores energy balance. This allows the body to heal.

What is Lomilomi Massage?

There are many factors to an authentic lomilomi massage. Both spiritual and physical.

A Lomilomi practitioner has been taught to “love the body as if it were your own”. This is the key secret to this technique. A thorough, full body massage, Lomilomi begins with the client laying face down on a clean sheet on the massage table. The client is draped with another sheet and tucked in during the session. Only the part of the body being massaged is exposed. Even a very modest person tends to feel nurtured, protected and safe. A combination of pressure points, gently flowing strokes, both to and from the brisk rubbing and rocking - all in a rhythm that soothes and enlivens the body. Lomilomi is designed to be first relaxing then reviving. One of the distinguishing characteristics of the massage is the use of the forearms and elbows by the therapist. The broad, flat strokes of the forearm seem to “smooth out” tensions while the angular penetration of the elbows is effective in pinpointing troublesome areas. All deep pressure work is carefully guided by releasing of breath, both by the therapist and the client.

When the client is laying on the table, tucked in and cozy, the first thing the Lomilomi practitioner does is stand at the head of the client, palms down on the client’s back. With head bowed, the therapist recognizes oneness with the creator as she takes several deep breaths. She gives thanks for her healthy body and asks that her hands may be used to assist the client in finding peace and healing within themselves.

Lomilomi is always rhythmic 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3. The first stroke in the series is the lightest, then deeper and deeper as the client relaxes under soothing, relaxing touch of the practitioner. The therapist uses her body weight to “fall into” the client’s body. There is no tension in the therapist, who remains relaxed throughout the entire massage, thus not introducing more tension into either herself or the client. Lomilomi massage is not only therapeutic, it is loving, nurturing and thorough. As the therapist and client together explore the tensions in the body and release and let go of the troubles causing spasms, a deeper healing begins. The client begins to experience an inner peace of harmony. Thus, Lomilomi massage, experienced on a consistent schedule, contributes greatly to a synthesis of body, mind and spirit.

When to get a massage….

Therapeutic massage on a regular basis can assist with numerous body pains, injuries, chronic pain and for relaxation and relieving tension. You do not need to live with pain.

Depending on your situation, massage is appropriate every four weeks, every two weeks and even as often as once a week. Everyone is different. A personal schedule can be made to suit your own needs.
